As some of you will know, I’ve been working on a short film about myself, to introduce me as the fine Kent wedding photographer that I am (damn right). Well, I finally finished it. Video is an extremely important thing these days, and I firmly believe we’ll see more and more people using it as a medium to communicate with others.

The Internet can be a cold and lonely place. I’d love to meet each and every one of you in person (except the weirdos), but sadly that probably isn’t a realistic proposition. I do meet (almost) everyone I’m going to shoot a wedding for (Skype plays its part too, for those of you some distance away), but even before I see these lovely people I need to make some kind of connection. This video, I hope, helps to do that.

Anyway, enough blethering. Here it is:

Introducing Kent Wedding Photographer Tim Hensel

I like to be inclusive, so for anyone who’s hard of hearing, here’s the “script”, such that there is one:

Hello everyone, I’m Tim.

I thought it might be nice to make a short film to introduce myself.

I love photographing weddings. I come from a family of artists – proper ones – and the idea of making special images is something that is deeply ingrained in me. Photography was always my medium. I don’t think there’s another profession on earth that combines the creativity, the technical know-how and the joy of interacting with others the way wedding photography does.

Although it sounds cheesy to say it – and I don’t really like cheese – I really care about all my photographs and all my clients. I honestly don’t believe you’ll find another photographer at any price who’s more committed to this than I am.

I shoot every wedding myself, sometimes with help from my excellent assistant, and afterwards I personally edit your pictures too, using the Photoshop suite (also with a little help).

My most important character trait is my trademark relaxed, easy going attitude – I’m a nice guy to have at your wedding! Don’t for a minute think that means I’m lax in my approach though – I’m dedicated to the pursuit of professionalism and do everything I can to make the whole process, from booking right through to well after the wedding, as smooth as possible. I like to think I’m one of the good guys.

I’ve developed a very natural, creative style, and like to do things my own way. If you really care about your wedding photos, if you want a photographer who’s unique, who does things a little differently to the rest, you might just have found him…..

I do things a bit differently

I’ve watched any number of intro films like this over the past couple of months. I came to the conclusion that I didn’t want my film to be like any of them – I wanted it to be like me. It still needed to get the message across, and not give the impression that I’m totally bonkers, but I was keen that it present as a little bit… different. Like I say in the film, if you want a wedding photographer who’s not cut from the same cloth as all the others…

Watch it elsewhere on the web

Why on earth you’d want to watch my film on three different platforms is beyond me, but for the sake of completeness here it is on Facebook and YouTube too (the big one above is on Vimeo, in case you were wondering, which you probably weren’t).

P.S. as a sort of self-congratulation I thought I’d post some of the lovely comments I’ve had about this since I posted it on Facebook earlier this week. Two comment threads, as one is from my page and one from my personal profile.
